ASA Firepower 6.1 Rate Limiting

Hi,

Our customer bought ASA 5516-X with on-box management (Using ASDM for ASA and Firepower service). And asked me if the ASA/Firepower could do rate limiting/ QoS policy based on application (like limiting bandwidth for youtube etc). From the firepower 6.1 release note, it seems that the Rate Limiting feature only availabe when the ASA running on FTD image or using FMC as management console. Is that really the case? I am aware that there are a lot of features limitation when using ASDM as firepower management console. Is it one of them is rate limiting?

That is correct, the rate limiting option is available for the FTD (FirePOWER Threat Defense) only. For more information you can reference the release notes from the link below:
