ASA with webvpn

Hi!

We have ASA5520 and we are considering implementing ssl/webvpn.I have a few questions about this.

1. what is the diffrence between Webvpn and ssl-vpn.

2. Can you use Cisco Secure Desktop with ssl-vpn or only with Webvpn?

3. Are there any limitations regarding functionality in general with ssl-vpn compared to ipsec-vpn (cisco vpn-client)

Hi .. in regards to yur questions:

1.- Is basically the same but different name. WebVPN uses Secure Sockets Layer Protocol and its successor, Transport Layer Security to provide a

secure connection between remote users and specific, supported internal resources that you configure at

a central site.

2.- You can configure both the Secure Desktop component of CSD and Cisco SSL VPN Client (SVC) to run simultaneously on client PCs. If you configure CSD to permit switching between the Secure Desktop and the local desktop, the SVC connection becomes available to both. To do so, choose Secure Desktop General and check Enable switching between Secure Desktop and Local Desktop for each location.

3.- WebVPN allows access to certain applications such as

.Internal websites

• Web-enabled applications

• NT/Active Directory file shares

• Email proxies, including POP3S, IMAP4S, and SMTPS

• MS Outlook Web Access

• MAPI

• Port forwarding for access to other TCP-based applications.

Ipsec VPN client is a full tunnel that allows access to everything you allow.
