ASA5510 layer 2 vlans?

I just opened up a new ASA5510 and connected to it via the console port. From there I want to set up a vlan for 'inside' and assign interface E0/0 to the vlan. However I find no 'switchport' or 'vlan' configuration keywords anywhere.

How does one activate L2 on this device?  It came with 8.3(1).

Hi,

'switchport' command is used for models which have built-in switch such as ASA5505 and we can assign ports to vlan. For ASA5510 we can go to interface using command 'interface eth0/0' and assign IP address, name, security level etc. You may configure trunk by making sub-interfaces and configure vlan on sub-interfaces.

Here are links for this

Interface configuration for ASA5510 and higher

switchport command reference

I hope this will help.
