I have an asa5520 running in transparent mode and the management interface is dropping icmp packets. The interface is connected to a 6509 10/100/1000 interface and both are set to auto/auto. Both the cable and switch port have been changed. I have replaced the ASA and the problem still exists.
Instead of using auto/auto you should change the settings manually to say 100 Mbps and Full duplex on both ends. Also, you will have to configure ASA to allow ICMP from one interface to the other.
