Any suggestion?
Best Regards.

Hi Cristhian,
You need to download the old version of java to make it compatible with ASA ASDM.
Please let me know the IOS or ASDM version... so I can suggest you the Java version..

Hello Cristhian,
There are certainly compatability issues between java version 7 and the ASDM launcher.
My recommendation is uninstall java from your PC and then download java version 6.
Where to find that version:

Hey all,
Has there been any update to this?
I have two Macs and both have the Java 7 update and neither can launch ASDM now. And there are no old versions of Java for the Mac from Oracle prior to 7. It's a huge pain to need to find a PC every time I need to launch ASDM.
Thanks,
Jason

Hello Jason,
See what you mean!
Here is the bug ID:
http://cdetsweb-prd.cisco.com/apps/dumpcr?identifier=%3Ca%20href='https://www.cisco.com/cisco/psn/bssprt/bss?searchType=bstbugidsearch&page=bstBugDetail&BugID=CSCts17526'%20target='_blank'%3ECSCts17526%3C/a%3E&parentprogram=QDDTSCSCts17526
You can take look at it to investigate when the fix is available!
in the meanwhile customers can use the following workaround:
1. Access ASA from the client machine using https
2. Instead of saving and installing ASDM launcher, try to "Run ASDM" from browser as java applet.
3. ASDM will load after putting credentials and it will automatically create shortcut on desktop which can be used for accessing ASDM later.
Note : You'll not get option of "Run ASDM" in case of accessing ASA from Google Chrome. So, try to use IE or Mozilla.

Hi Julio,
I have been using those steps but it freezes at the "Java 7..." loading screen - the applet for ASDM never actually loads.
Also - I am unable to view the bug ID - could you copy and paste what is there because I do not have access rights?
Thanks!!

Symptom:
ASDM Launcher hangs when JAVA version 7 is used. However, it is still accessible from the browsers. The following exception is seen:
"Exception in thread "AWT-EventQueue-0" java.lang.ClassCastException: sun.security.ssl.X509TrustManagerImpl cannot be cast to com.sun.net.ssl.internal.ssl.X509ExtendedTrustManager"
Conditions:
Using JAVA version 7.
Workaround:
Use JAVA version 6 or access ASDM from the browser.

Hi Julio,
This works for a PC running Windows but does not work on the Mac once Java 7 is installed. You cannot install older, unsupported vesions of Java on later versions of MacOS X. So, this is a real problem for all of us who use Macs. Right now I am brushing off my CLI skills (ughh!).
Is there a timeline for a fix?

John

I use a Mac OS X 10.8.2.
I've just upgraded to ASDM 7.1(1).
The Java 7... pop just sits there.
I have to access the ASA from a Microsoft desktop.

Hello,
Are they running the same Java version,
If yes, then you will need to run captures ( one from the MAC PC and the other one from the Microsoft) so we can see any differences there,
