Im using idsmc/secmon 2.02 and I have created a scheduled backup for the ids database however when ever it runs, it fails with the following error message.
Common Java System Services
Error
SYSTEM Backup
Operation failed, the database validation failed.
Can anyone tell me what this error means and how I can resolve the problem?

Firstly, I feel this could be an issue with your browser or some Java related file is missing. Secondly, if you could give the exact and full error message, it would be more easier to diagnose the problem...

Darin, did you manage to resolve this problem. The reason I ask is that I have exactly the same problem: "the database validation failed", using VMS 2.3 (Security Monitor 2.0.1).
My suspicion is that the IDS Database can't handle the amount of syslog entries that are being sent to it, though it does seem to happen every time the syslog DB goes over about 800Megs.

I opened a TAC call with Cisco regarding the problem.
The resolution was to replace "dbvalid.exe" in "D:\Program_Files\CSCOpx\objects\db\win32\ however I never fully understood the reason for the replacement so I think that it would be best to contact Cisco.

What did you replace dbvalid.exe with? - A replacement file from Cisco? The Version I have is 7.0.3.2046

i downloaded the file from tac. there is no version information on it but the file size on disk is 156 KB (159,744 bytes)

when looking for the file dbvaild.exe it did not find this did you have to open a TAC so Cisco could let you download this?
Thanks

I agree, it would be useful if we could download the file from you.

I did have to open a TAC call in order to get access the file.
If I have the agreement with an official representative from Cisco on this security forum, I will make the file available.
