Browser keeps closing trying to access IPS 5.0 on 4235

We just upgraded a 4235 sensor to IPS 5.0. I can only access it via https on one machine. On every other machine I go to I have the same problem. I open up a browser and type in the URL. I get prompted a couple of times about a certificate and I accept them. A new page pops up and I am prompted twice again about certificates. The two browser windows close with no error message.

On the machine that works, after the second prompt for a certificate, I am prompted for a username and password. All is well.

I have loaded and unloaded several versions of java. The working machine has 1.4.2, I have tried versions 1.4.0 through 1.5 (5.0).

I put in the fix for the memory error.

I am sure that I am overlooking something.

Please help.

Hi George,

yes I´ve seen this issue, If the IDM applet starts but it won't finish loading then you need to upgrade (or downgrade) the Java VM version.

1. Go to tools>internet options> advanced

2. Make sure you have the following options checked/uncheked for the following menus

JAVA SUN

+ Use JRE 1.4.1 (uncheked)

Microsoft VM

+ Java console enabled (uncheked)

+ Java logging (uncheked)

+ JIT compiler(cheked)

should work with java 1.4.2 the 1.5 not all are supported, so please try also with this one 1.5.0_01

http://java.sun.com/products/archive/j2se/1.4.1_07/

Please let me know.

You may be running into:

CSCeh39422 IDM does not load with latest Sun JRE plugin 1.5.0 Update 2.

This issue was resolved in the 5.0(2) Service Pack:

http://www.cisco.com/cgi-bin/tablebuild.pl/ips5

Please load the 5.0(2) Service Pack if you have not already done so.

Then let me know if you still have problems after 5.0(2) is loaded.

I have tried the version 1.4.2_4 with this file name

j2re-1_4_2_04-windows-i586-p

it worked fine.

don't forget to write this java parameter in the control panel - java plugin - advanced - java runtime parameter - "-Xmx256m" .

it will run very fine after that.

Note : the JRE for windows, can be found at this link:
