I need to change an asa external ip address remotely, usually when we do this type of thing with the routers we reload in 5min and if the new ip does not kick in for some reason and we loose connection, reload in 5min takes care of it.
Question is : if I reload in 5min then go to the interface and put in a new IP address and it does not work, after the firewall reloads does it reatain the OLD ip or the NEW ip. When you put in a command on the asa does it automatically save it such that it is saved after a reboot or not?
The ASA doen't do 'auto save'. You need to issue 'write mem' or when you issue 'reload' command, it will prompt you to save (yes/no) for the changes. Hope I understood your question correct ;-).
