Hi,
Is there anyway of finding out the serial number for the chassis of a Pix firewall apart from a physical check ?
I understand that the serial number in the output of the sh ver is for the flash bios serial number not the chassis.
Any ideas ?
Thanks
Stu

Depends on the platform, You could try 'show inventory'.

Hello,
Try to issue the command show tech. Capture all the output and then Click CTRL+F and search for the chassis.
You should find it there,
Appreciate your rating if this helps,

Sorry, that's for a router. AFAIK there is no command in a PIX the get the chassis serial number. No where in a show tech did I find the serial number, so I don't hink that will work either.

Hi,
you can see it with "show version" one of the lower lines, but older systems like PIX520 with upraded flashcard the shown serial number differs from that on the chassis. It is stored in the flash.

That's not the serial number.
