Cisco ASA WAN bandwidth monitoring

Hello Guys,

Is there a way I can monitor the real time bandwidth usage for Cisco ASA WAN or LAN  interface ?

Also, it there any open-source syslog server available where ASA can export all the logs?

Try SNMP/Netflow. There are free tools from solarwinds.

You can use any monitoring software like MRTG / Zabbix  / snmpwalk should get the results what you looing

PRTG still free for some devices

Of course any Linux host can run a syslog daemon of you can add on a free enhanced one like syslog-ng. But all that will be is a flat text file. You would be on your own graphing and interpreting the data. There are open source tools like greylog, mrtg and Grafana that give varying degrees of extra features but setting them up can be a challenge for the novice or even journeyman engineer.

PRTG is probably the easiest to setup and free for up to 100 sensors. It can poll an ASA for interface utilization as well as consume Netflow records sent to it by an ASA.

SolarWinds has the free Kiwi syslog server but if you download it you will get calls and emails for the rest of your life trying to get you to upgrade to their paid products. AFAIK the SolarWinds products that to polling and consume Netflow (NPM and NTA) are only available in their paid products.

For bandwidth monitoring and syslog, you can use LibreNMS or Cacti. Both are free.  Both are good, but I prefer LibreNMS over Cacti mainly because I haven't used it much and I like to try new solutions.
