I am struggling to understand how to upgrade the FMC?
Model Cisco Firepower Management Center for VMWare
Serial Number None
Software Version 6.2.1 (build 342)
OS Cisco Fire Linux OS 6.2.1 (build6)
Snort Version 2.9.11 GRE (Build 101)
Rule Update Version 2019-01-29-001-vrt
Rulepack Version 2196
Module Pack Version 2486
Geolocation Update Version 2019-01-25-003
VDB Version build 308 ( 2018-12-14 18:29:02 )
It doesn't appear that updates to the FMC itself appear in the "Updates" section. I get updates for Vulnerability and fingerprint database, network sensor patch and that is it. What files need to be uploaded to update the FMC itself? Also can the FMC be at a higher version then the sourcefire modules in the ASAs in my network?

For the virtual instance of Firepower, in the downloads section
Downloads Home / Security / Firewalls / Firewall Management / Firepower Management Center Virtual Appliance /
Then, download and enjoy.

Hi Steven,
You can directly upgrade from 6.2.1 to 6.3. You need to download the 6.3 file from download center and upload to FMC. Then push the update to FMC and install.
File need to be download : Cisco_Firepower_Mgmt_Center_Upgrade-6.3.0-84.sh.REL.tar
Below is the upgrade path
My sugestion is to upgrade to 6.2.3.7 and wait until a patch release for 6.3. As so many members reported few bugs in 6.3
File to download for 6.2.3.7 upgrade.
1: Sourcefire_3D_Defense_Center_S3_Upgrade-6.2.3-92.sh.REL.tar
2: Sourcefire_3D_Defense_Center_S3_Patch-6.2.3.7-51.sh.REL.tar
Hope This Helps
