Cisco FMC VM upgrade

Hello everyone,

I need help upgrading Cisco FMC VM. Current FMC version is 6.2.2.5, from cisco upgrade path doc I found that its possible to upgrade directly to version 6.4.0. Since we have two CISCO ASA 5515x devices in Active/Standby setup, should I upgrade the FMC first and then the SFR module on the ASA ? Because right now the SFR module version 6.2.0-362 is different than the FMC version 6.2.2.5.

Best regards,

Haris

Always FMC first and make sure check the matrix and compatability.

The FMC needs to be upgraded first to version 6.4.0 and then any patches after that to bring it up to date.

I would then download to flash and run the asasfr 6.4.0 boot image for the FirePower modules and do a clean install. Once the install is finished you can point them to the FMC and deploy your policy to them. Nice and simple.

Once you get to 6.4 on both FMC and managed devices, I would suggest going all the way to 6.6.4. You do have to have 28 GB or more of memory for an FMC VM but once you have that, the 6.6 user interface is more useful and performance will be much improved with the new underlying database (MonetDB vs. Sybase).
