CLI access list not displayed in ASDM

On our PIX515E that runs PIX 7.2(2) and ASDM 5.2(2), if I enter an access list from the CLI it is not displayed in the ASDM. However the access list works and is displayed when sending the command 'show run'. This is the case for all the acces lists that I have entered via the command line, an example being:

access-list EXTERNAL_access_in extended permit ip BOX1 255.255.255.0 *.*.*.* 255.255.255.0

Obviously, in the real acl the * is an actual IP address.

Any ideas on why this happens are appreciated.

Thanks.

ASDM only show access-lists applied to interfaces. If the access lists aren't applied with an 'access-group' statement, you won't see them in ASDM.
