Hello @mkashif136,

It seems that downgrading the FXOS image on the FTD 4125 device is not officially supported by Cisco. The recommended method, according to the documentation, is to perform a complete re-image of the device.

Performing a complete re-image typically involves wiping the existing software and configuration from the device and installing a specific version of the firmware or operating system.

Unsupported downgrades can carry risks, such as compatibility issues, loss of data or functionality, and potential security vulnerabilities.

M02@rt37  as long as the FXOS is in line with the version in case in this the train of the Software is same it from 7.0.5 to 7.0.1. Therefore no need to downgrade the FXOS image. only the FTD software shall be downgrade from 7.0.5 to 7.0.1. which is again a minor release not a major release.

Is there any reason why you downgrade the FTD 4125 from 7.0.5 to 7.0.1. If you plan to downgrade yes you should be able to.

Minimum FXOS Version to Upgrade FTD

The minimum FXOS version to run Version 7.0 is FXOS 2.10.1.159.

as long as you have FXOS 2.10.1.159 you are good to downgrade.

we only want to downgrade ftd from 7.0.5 to 7.0.1 as we are on fxos version 2.10 (1.245)

Yes In that case you are good to go.

Why downgrading ?  We are currently on 7.0.1 and plan to upgrade to 7.0.5 ? Where there any issues after you upgraded to 7.0.5 ?

good Q.

This is FTD we are talking about, there are always issues... We are currently downgrading to 7.2.5 from 7.3.1 due to a bug that still isn't fixed in 7.3.1 but 7.2.5 has the fix, go figure.

7.2.5/7.2.5.1 is the currently most stable and suggested release for most customers.

The 7.3 release train is short term and should only be used if you absolutely require specific features only available in it.

7.4.1 will be out in a couple of weeks and will include all of the 7.3 features and 7.2.5 bug fixes.
