FPR 1120 appliance - Uninstall ASA image and Install FTD image

Hello,

One of our customer purchased FPR 1120 appliance with ASA image. But their current requirement is that they need to install FTD image in the FPR appliance instead of the ASA image. They don't need any next generation features like Malware, IPS and URL filtering. They just need L4 firewalling. Their plan is to add the FTD to the FMC for management. Do we need to purchase any license for the above requirement or we simply uninstall ASA image and install the FTD image?.

You need base License :

Your purchase of a FTD device automatically includes a Base license

So download the Latest Image of FTD and re-image the box, join the FMC.

Thanks a lot for the response. You  mean when we purchase an FPR1120 appliance we are automatically eligible for the FTD base license?. If that is the case when we reimage the box and add it to FMC then the base license will be automatically enabled right?.

One more question, for site to site VPN to be enabled the customer's smart account should have export control feature enabled right?.

yes base License will be added when you re-image and connect to smart License.
