Hi.. I am looking to configure my FWSM as a dhcp relay agent.
The Cisco doc. as below mentions that
"Note There is a limit of 100 active DHCP bindings when configuring a dhcp relay using the dhcprelay enable command."
Does this mean that I cannot have more than 100 hosts requesting dhcp addresses through the FWSM?
Regards,
Nilesh

Hi Nilesh,
Thats correct. The max limit for dhcprelay bindings is 100, if that limit is reached no more dhcp relay binding would be done, until a host terminates its binding. To check if the limit has maxed out, you can use the command:
show dhcprelay statistics
Yu can also run a debug, if the clients stop getting the ip's, to check if the limit has exceeded:
debug dhcprelay error
Hope this helps.
Thanks,
Varun

Hi Varun.. thank you for your reply.
Dunno why the FWSM needs to care about the bindings..
Guess I will have to move the configs to the switch then because I need more than just a 100 dhcp addresses

Hi Nilesh,
The FWSM is acting like a dhcprelay on the network and it maintains a table of all the dhcp bindings or requests that it forwards to teh server. There already has been a Enhancement request filed on this, you can refer this for it:
Hope this helps.
Thanks,
Varun
