FWSM moving from C7600 to C6500VSS

Hi,

I have a backbone connection (2x10G) between 2 Cisco7600. In both chassis we have 2xFWSM and 1xNAM module.

We will migrate this devices to C6500VSS (so we will have the topology: C6500VSS -- 2x10G optical fibre -- C6500VSS.

Do I need to change/modify/configure anything on the FWSM modules or on the NAM modules, or should I simply pull them out from the 7600, plug them

in to the C6500 chassis (1FWSM / C6500, so 2xFWSM / VSS)?

I think the FWSM's has VLAN interfaces (no external interfaces with renumbering issue) ,so it should work, but I'm not sure, I don't have the possibility to test it.

Thank you,

Zoltan

Hi,

finally we made the device change.

There was everything ok, you need to watch the sw version of the FWSM (with older sw it works only in the

same chassis, with newer sw you can place the 2 FWSM's into different chassis in the VSS. Unfortunately I can't rememeber to the exact sw versions).

Regards,

Zoltan
