Help understanding ASA 4120 NGFW

Hello all,

I am pretty new to the ASA and I was thrown in the fire.  I have learned a lot done a bunch of training.  But still running into questions I can't seem to find the answer to.

Currently the device I have shows as a NGFW not an NGIPS.  I've been tasked with getting IPS up and running on the device.  I believe we are currently running Cisco ASA software Version.  To enable IPS is it a physical module we need?  I was told that the ASA can't run IPS that I might need to run the FTD?  Can someone please help me understand all these differences and what I need to have to enable IPS.  Maybe IPS isn't possible on this device?

Thank you for your help!

4120 NGFW is Firepower capable of Next generation FW.

But if you running ASA code, we need to look and confirmed what is the capable of the device.

can you post show version what you running now on this box.

If you running FXOS then you are good stage.
