How can I rename a object group?

Hi,

I'm just look at our ASA and some of the Object Groups need to have their names re-named, how can I do this?

You cannot do it directly. You have to create a new object-group and then modify the places where the old name is called out to use the new name instead. Then you can delete the old one. 

The 'where used' feature in ADSM is pretty useful for this task. 

This is something (rename) that Juniper has had for years, going back to NetScreenOS. I wish Cisco would get on this, because I have firewalls where this object group is used in a lot of rules, and the prospect of having to go into each rule to add the new group and delete the old one from each ACL seems tedious and unnecessary.

yes, but not for object-group :-(

 

mydevice(config)# object-group network BooHoo rename BOOHOO
