HI,
we are in process of installation some Voip switches and we have NATed Cisco ASA5505 Firewall , we have two IPs Private and external Public IP, 192.168.205.119 and the external public IP 1.1.1.1, now i want to ping from my private ip to the external Public IP , but its not working, its for the same server ..
so my question is what changes need to do in ASA5505 firewall GUI which enable ping from internal IP to the External IP ?
Please Help i am new to Firewalls Thanks in advance............

Hi,
So , if i understand it correctly , you have a Server (192.168.205.119 >> 1.1.1.1)
Now , you want to ping from this server to it's own public IP.. ??? Is this correct ??
Why would you want that ?
Thanks and Regards,

Hi,
yes i want the same, Infect we are in process of installing some VOIP services applications and the service provider need it to access Public IP from Private IP , for accessing Urls etc, However i have done this by simple configuration " in NAT rules i add one new rule "private Ip inside inside Public IP " it start working like charm , and yes in configurations>interfaces> enable option enable traffic between two or more hosts connecting to the same interfaces ............
by enabling this option does it have some security problems ?
Best Regards
Ihsan

Hi,
No , it should not have any security problems but this will allow any traffic with the Source and Destination IP which are behind the same Physical or Logical Sub-interface on the ASA device.
