A PIX 501 reboots itself after being moved--the motion causes the 501 to reboot itself. There is no service contract. The unit is approx. two years old. How do I remedy the problem?

It sounds like the power connectors is loose.

The quick & dirty solution (to verify) would be a strip of duct tape from top to bottom to secure the power connector.

Mine is pretty loose too. If I move the 501 much at all it reboots. A coaxial power connector is probably not the best choice, but that what we get.

Good Luck

Scott, Thanks.

Could help resolve a dead IOS on a 2501 router? During the upgrading of IOS, the error message below is displayed. This string of error messages is being displayed in a continuous loop. Even when I shut down the router and turn it back on, the error messages continue. The router does not respond to keyboard commands. I can Not break the loop. Any suggestions to brining the router to life? The error messages:

Hello...

i think you had uploaded an IOS, which required more memory/flash than the one present on your router.. you have to probably reflash the old image or put another image which suits the requirement. so, as of now, does the router come to rommon prompt ?? if so, you need to re-flash using either xmodem or by using tftpdnld (if available)..

just search for these keywords on cisco and you will find the way of doing it.

all the best..
