our client has an ids but no vms how can we upload the backup config thru cli or http for disaster recovery...

Of course, the beauty of this is that recovery is the reverse...
sensor# copy ftp://@/ current-config
No VMS required!

use ssh to the sensor
sensor# copy current-config ftp://@
