Issue with Cisco Firepower Licensing 1120

Hello Everyone,

I have recently used cisco firepower 1120 for one of our customer, without any additional licenses. So as per my undertanding all the firepower comes with base license as perpetual. So, I proceed it with basic configuration, which give me a Evaluation Period of 90 Days. So, is this 90 days is for additional license, or base license as well. Because once 90 days is expired, I cannot make any changes to features which runs under base licenses and also it display an warning that there is not base license.

If I have the base license, still I need to Connect to smart license. How's the things goes.

Note : Customer dont have smart license activated.

@Himanshu_Dwivedi you will need to register the device in smart licensing, there is no cost associated to this.

Means in order for base license to work, I still need to register smart license. Do you have any reference how to register the device in smart licensing.

@Himanshu_Dwivedi I don't know of a specific guide for FDM. From the FDM GUI in the Device Actions pane on the right, click Manage Licenses click on register device from the license screen on the FDM (as per your first screenshot). Open a web browser in another tab and access Smart Software Licensing from the Cisco Software Central portal. Issue a new Token by choosing Inventory > General > New Token. Copy the token and paste into FDM GUI where appropriate and complete the process.

Correct - it needs to be registered at software.cisco.com even for the free Base license to work after the evaluation period has expired.

@Rob Ingram correctly described the process in his reply.
