K9 license gives error saying not valid for this system.

Hi,

I recently erased the flash on my ASA5515-X firewall and had to reinstall the IOS from TFTP. However after getting a 3DES/AES license from Cisco (ending in K9), I get an error when trying to activate it.

The error says "The requested activation key was not saved because it is not valid for this system".

I ran the show version command and noticed that my IOS is asa922-4-smp-k8.bin.

Can anybody tell me what the problem is here? Can I not use a k9 license on a k8 operating system?
