NGFW on cisco 9300 L3 switch

Hi,

we already have Cisco 9300 switch on premise doing our core routing. currently we are planning to get a IPS/IDS solution for our organization. i was just wondering if it is possible to install cisco NGFW on our our current cisco 9300 switch and make it function as a IPS/IDS

Hi,
No this is not possible, you cannot install FTD (NGFW) on a Catalyst 9300 switch, you can only install on Firepower or ASA hardware.

There is Firepower 9300 hardware, which is why you are possibly asking this question....however this is a completely separate hardware range.

If i understand the question correctly -

You looking to Buy new IPS/ IDS and connect to Cat 9300 - then yes that is possible,

If you looking to install software on  Cat 9300 - that is not supported.
