Pix 501 not even pinging the gateway

Hi,

Have a 501 which can not even ping a dsl router; the int eth0 shows up up. I also connected a laptop to the dsl router and assigned myself a public address and I get the connection right away.

Has anybody experienced this situation?

I have configured many pixes and had not had this situation.

Any insight woudl be appreciated....

I think you will need an access-list to allow the ping response back into the pix on the outside interface. eg:-

access-list external permit icmp any any echo-reply

access-group external in interface outside
