I am trying to get a PIX working with an ADSL modem. It seems that the modem has a fixed IP of 192.168.0.1 and is configured with a dhcp client using http on this address. Having been configured with the ISP etc the modem then 'remembers' the MAC address of the client and then using dhcp renews the clients IP address with the ISP allocated (fixed in this case) IP address with a default gateway of one greater.
I have never been able to get the pix to get an IP address from the modem. So I have developed 2 configs with fixed IP addresses, one for configuration one for operation. This mostly seems to work except that I cannot ping the modem on 192.168.0.1 from the PIX itself, whilst I can ping it from a PIX client on the secure side of the PIX. I can't understand this I hope someone might be able to help. I enclose a (anonimised) version of my (operational) config for info.
