Can someone tell me if the PIX ethernet will do a proxy arp?

Yes. PIX interfaces will respond to ARP requests on behalf of a machine it is protecting.

yes..proxy-arp is enabled by default on the PIX interfaces......
one exmaple which shows that pix supports proxy-arp is ...
i have a pix firewall with inside and outside interfaces configured with private and public ip addresses respectively . i do nating on the pix converting 1 single ip address in inside interface to a public ip (this public ip belongs to the subnet of the outside interface range) to the outside interface. When u send a connection request from the inside interface, the pix firewall xlates ur private ip to public ip . for the return traffic the PIX proxy-arps for the public ip and converts back it to private ip address and sends it back. hope i am clear .
