Hello,
I have a PIX with IOS version 6.2. I need to upgrade it to higher version 6.3 or 7.x, so that cisco clients with latest version can connect to VPN from Vista clients (which is not supported on ver 6.2). There is no failover for this PIX, and it is in production environment. I want to know any known concerns or risks associated with upgrading PIX IOS 6.2 to 6.3/7.x. I dont want to lose/crash this PIX as there is no failover. And if I upgrade what would be the safest version of IOS I could upgarde it to?
Thank you.

Hi,
Please check the release notes for version 6.3.x
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/pix/pix63/release/notes/pixrn635.html
Also, to move to 7.x there are a lot of changes and considerations you should take.
Check the release notes:

Thanks for the links Federico.
However, I am also looking for user experiences of upgrading IOS 6.2 to 6.3/7.x. If it would be good for me to take that risk, as I dont have a failover option and if something goes wrong is the downgrade procedure expalined on cisco links is smooth and safe to revert back?
Thank you.

Hi,
You should not have any problems if you follow the instructions on this link on how to upgrade:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/vpndevc/ps2030/products_tech_note09186a00804708d8.shtml
The above link explains the downgrade procedure as well.
Federico.
