Problems Upgrading PIX 515 to 701 and ASDM

I was sucessful in upgrading to 7.01 from 6.3, but what I come to do the ASDM upgrade, in console when I do a tftp it tells me that there isn't enough storage on the flash. But this is where I'm confused.

Output from a dir shows this

Directory of flash:/

4 -rw- 50770 16:47:15 Sep 06 2005 downgrade.cfg

12 -rw- 14379 11:43:41 Jul 07 2005 PIX515.txt

13 -rw- 5124096 16:51:41 Sep 06 2005 pix701.bin

15998976 bytes total (4999680 bytes free)

Problem is that the 16Mb minus the size of the 3 files displayed doesn't add up.

What is taking up the space? I'm missing about 10Mb.

Upon boot, the console tells me I have 10 files on flash

Initializing flashfs...

flashfs[7]: 10 files, 4 directories

flashfs[7]: 0 orphaned files, 0 orphaned directories

flashfs[7]: Total bytes: 15998976

flashfs[7]: Bytes used: 10999296

flashfs[7]: Bytes available: 4999680

flashfs[7]: flashfs fsck took 16 seconds.

flashfs[7]: Initialization complete.

Also, I tried using monitor mode and I can load asdm-501.bin, but it doesn't appear to save because when I reboot and check the flash, it isn't there.

What am I overlooking?

Appreciate any help.

Problem fixed.

I formatted the flash while in console mode and then was able to re-upload the PIX515 config file, new ASDM and PIX701 binaries.

Still can't see where the extra space went to!

It shall remain a mystery.
