I have a customer who I originally configured with a site-to-site VPN using IOS Firewall on 1721/51 routers. They use IP phones on one side and have both IP sets and call control on the other (non-Cisco, sorry). The config sent intersite VoIP traffic through the VPN tunnel and NATed other traffic to the internet.
We just switched them over to use PIX 515E's. On one side, this allowed us to eliminate the router as the WAN link came in on ethernet. Same basic drill; intersite voice and data traffic gets put through the tunnel; internet traffic gets NATed.
Now the rub. Their traffic demands are increasing and new data activity is putting pressure on the WAN pipe. Are there any QoS options/tricks using the PIX to give the voice traffic priority? I can put the other router back in play and get QoS using classical mechanisms, but worry about the delay in adding the extra hop.
