"regular translation creation failed" on FWSM between VLANS

Jacob Berger

Level 2

connected laptop to wireless network (Cisco APS and WLC)

laptop gets correct  IP info from DHCP

can ping clients in same subnet (VLAN)

cannot ping or any other protocol to other subnets behind FWSM

get error (example with ping)

3 Dec 27 2012 17:02:58 305006 130.2.4.115    regular translation creation failed for icmp src Wireless-Users:x.x.x.x dst old_servers:x.x.x.x(type 8, code 0)

after a few hours it started working - but i would like to understand what the problem was.

on the web i found some info about NAT

but in this case the are no static NAT configured

all other clients in same subnet are OK

if i manually set a different IP from same subnet the client works.

i set the problem IP manually on a different laptop (disconnected the first) and had same problem

so its somthing about the specific IP i was using

thanks

Jacob,

When it is working grab the output of

sh xlate debug | i x.x.x.x

When it breaks grab the same outpout and compare the two.
