Hello,
We have a ASA 5225-X H/A pair with SFR modules. Within a month of time both modules have crashed and I'm trying to figure out if this is a physical issue with the SSD disk or just a corrupt filesystem.
We have tried re-image the modules, but we are getting Buffer I/O errors when starting the file transfeer.
Before re-image, we also shutdown the module and then uninstall it with the following commands.
# sw-module module xxx shutdown
# sw-module module xxx uninstall
# reload
We are able to load the boot image without problem, but it's when we try to transfeer the SFR software we run into issues.
Here is the error we see when trying to transfeer the image.
asasfr-boot>
asasfr-boot>system install http://x.x.x.x/asasfr-sys-6.6.7-223.pkg
Mod-sfr 279> asasfr login: [62139.361599] end_request: I/O error, dev vda, sector 0
Mod-sfr 280> [62139.362007] Buffer I/O error on device vda, logical block 0
Mod-sfr 281> [62139.362007] lost page write due to I/O error on vda
Mod-sfr 282> [62144.012273] vda: vda1 vda2 vda3 < vda5 vda6 vda7 >
Mod-sfr 283> [62144.039209] Unable to find swap-space signature
Is there any commands to repair the filesystem or format the SSD disk?
Are there other troubleshooting steps we can take before creating a RMA?
Thanks
/Chess

You cannot do general purpose file system manipulation of the SSD where the service module installs for these models. I would open a TAC case - they should be able to tell you pretty quickly if an RMA is indicated for the SSD or not.

Thanks Marvin. We decided to RMA the disk and are now waiting for replacements.

same happen to our 5545 twice now, we keep getting refurb drives and this is our edge firewall, Cisco just giving us second hand trash.
