Replacement of SSD drive in FPR 4110.

Hello Cisco Community,

I need some experience regarding FPR 4110.

We have a scenario in which we have RMA the FPR 4110. New FPR comes without SSD drive installed on it. I need to initialize FTD software but due to unavailability of SSD on New FPR, Firepower chassis manager prompt the error of the disk. So in that case i need to install SSD from OLD FPR to new FPR.

My questions are?

1) Where the software of FTD installed? Either on SSD or internal storage.

2) If i replace the SSD to new FPR, Do i need to re-initialize the FTD software to the SSD or OLD FTD software will automatically install on New FPR?

Your swift response will be appreciated.

Regards,

Kashif Khan

what SSD you trying to replace :

Two SSD slots

Ships with one 200-GB SSD installed in slot 1. Slot 1 is the primary SSD and should always be present.

Note

RAID is not supported.

The SSD must be installed in slot 1. Slot 2 is optional and is reserved only for the Malware Storage Pack (MSP).

Follow the below guide :

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/security/firepower/4100/hw/guide/b_install_guide_4100/maintenance_and_upgrades.html#task_931369173F9D45378EC377D1815550B4

Technically speaking, if the same hardware the SSD old one should work as expected in the new device which was RMA's to you.

If you like you can re-image save version (if you are managing using FMC).
