Restricted to Failover license

Hello

I need to convert 2 PIX Firewalls, one from restricted to unrestricted and the other from restricted to failover, then have them run as a pair, does anyone know if PIX-515-SW-FO is the correct product to use on the secondary?

Cisco PIX 515 Firewall License & License Upgrades

1.) Fail-Over

- Product Number = PIX-515-SW-FO

- PIX 515/515E Fail-Over software license.

2.)Restricted to Unrestricted

- Product Number: PIX-515-SW-R-UR=

- PIX 515/515E Restricted to Unrestricted software license upgrade. Includes PIX-515-MEM-32 to upgrade base chassis from 32 Mbytes to 64 Mbytes.

you can install these on your PIX and activate the unrestricted version on the PIX..

Do u have exact same models of firewall.(If not then the failover feature wont work) the primary firewall and the failove firewall must exactly be identical twins and must have exact same IOS.

If u wanna convert the failover to primary u unit then u must have the key for regualar (i guess restricted) firewall for that device and then change the key and it will work.

One more thing .. to convert the restricted firewall license to unrestricted ....u have to pay the cisco the fee and they will give u the key to convert it to unrestrited. Same goes for failover. But remember the firewall must be identical twins for example 535 vs 535 with same IOS.

Not only software have to be one unrestricted and fo,

the hardware must be the same, ram, ports, model ...etc

Hello Tony ,

you need 1 FO bundel & 1 UR bundel .

One should be UR(unrestricted Bundel) & other can be FO Bundel or UR bundel.
