Trying to get ASDM to work

I got an ASA 5512 from a sale and learning how to configure it, I had to do a password recovery on it to be able to get into it.

I got the management port setup and can web into it, it shows Cisco ASDM 7.1(3) on the web page and gives me "install ASDM Launcher" and "Install Java Web Start"

When I click on Install ASDM Launcher, it downloads a file and I run the installer (it says on the installer screen V 1.5(64) and it looks like it runs ok, I get the same screens as some ytube videos.

I never get a desktop icon or a start menu item.

I do get this folder: c:\program files (x86)\cisco Systems\ASDM

I do have Java installed ver 1.8.0_281 on my system.

On the section to run Cisco ASDM as a Java Web start Application, it says it is not installed on this computer.

Thanks

Hi...

I’m sure you need to set a admin password, I also created a new user from the console and enabled asdm acesss via interfaces.. so you might want to setup the basic inside and outside interfaces via console.

I think this part is key to getting the Java app to run and complete a connection.

I didn’t recall seeing any application icons, but you can create a shortcut from the installed Java package.
