Unable to access ASA5520 ASDM through web browser

I recently had a vendor configure our 2 firewalls (ASA5520). We are replacing a active-failover PIX525 firewall in 2 locations. After the vendor configured the new ASA5520's, I was unable to access the ASDM. The configurations are a basically modified versions of the config on the PIX525. I did find that they did not set the ASDM image path.

Here is what I have so far.

Set the ASDM image path:

- asdm image disk0:/asdm-621.bin

- end

- wr

- reload

Check running config:

- show run "asdm image disk0:/asdm-621.bin

I am using the management interface.

- interface Management0/0
- nameif management
- security-level 100
- ip address 192.168.1.1 255.255.255.0
- management-only

HTTP Server has been enabled.

- http server enable

- http 192.168.1.1 255.255.255.0 management

I have tried accessing the asdm through the web browser and get the followind error:

https://192.168.1.1/admin

- I get certificate error (usual)...continue to ASDM launch screen.

- I click to launch the ASDM and get the login screen

- The software downlad bar goes to 100%

- Spinning circle...nothing happens after 30 seconds

- I get an error message "ASDM cannnot be launched." and "Read timed out"

Does anyone know what could be causing this?

I have tried from my browser as well as downloading and installing th ASDM on my computer.

Computer information:

- Windows 7 64-bit

- IE9

Thank you,

Robert

Hi Robert,

Could you try upgrading ASDM to the latest available release, 6.4(3) or  6.3(5)

If that does not help then the Java console logs would help determine why it is failing.

Thanks,

Loren

Hi Rob,

You would need a 32 bit java engine along with a 32 bit IE browser to access asdm, you can download them from the below link:

http://www.java.com/en/download/faq/java_win64bit.xml

you can download and give it a shot. it should work
