Hi,
Is it possible to update the IPS signatures of IOS IPS on a 2900 router using the USB port?

we tried to use the USB and it seems to be working using the command:
copy usbflash0:IOS-S552-CLI.pkg idconf
The signatures were stored on the USB drive

I am not sure if that is possible but by reading a description of the USB 2.0 port of the 1900 series router it can be used for storage. So this means that you can use an USB Card to store IOS and I don't see why not to use it to store signatures and then load them to the router. It would be a good thing to test. If you have a spare router you could test it.
Check the data sheet:
USB 2.0 Ports:
• Two high-speed USB 2.0 ports are supported. The USB ports enable another mechanism secure token capabilities and storage.

I hope this helps.

Thank you very much clearing that up.
I have one more question. I'm trying to register the IPS licenses but I'm not sure wether I should select
Cisco Services for IPS service license (Version 6.0.x and earlier) or
Cisco Services for IPS service license (Version 6.1 and later).
Do the 2900 use Version 6.0.x and earlier or Version 6.1 and later?

I believe on the router you should have version 5.x but i am nit sure if registration is needed I will have lool that up
