Upgrade Cisco ASA5516-X Cluster from 9.6(4)36 to 9.12(3)2

Hello Community,

I want to upgrade an Active/Standby Cluster from version 9.6(4)36 to 9.12(3)2

My question: Do I have to pay attention to something here, because the major release is changed?

Or is this Straight Forward:

- Secondary Unit Update
- Restart Secondary Unit
- Switch Active State to Secondary One
- Upgrade and Restart Primary one
- Switch Back to Primary One

You direction correct.

couple of steps to add :

Read the Upgrade path and release notes carefully before upgrading :

1.Backup both active and standby configuration to off-box repository should full image recovery be required
2. Connect a laptop to the console on each ASA to log all events during the upgrade

3 . Connect to Standby unit - Upload ASA and ASDM

4 . Connect to Primary  unit - Upload ASA and ASDM

Active unit - change boot configuration.

Check config has replicated to standby

Reload Standby then Active
