Hi,

We are in the process of upgrading the engine in our IPS and IDS devices. We've one IDS 4215 device in our environment which installed with E3 Engine(6.0(5)E3 signature S409).

Currently we are using Engine version 6.0(5)E3 signature S409, now we need to upgarde to  6.0(6)E4.
Kindly suggest me whether can we upgrade directlly from version 6.0(5)E3 to 6.0(6)E4
Or we need to upgrade from version 6.0(5)E3 to 6.0(6)E3 and then to 6.0(6)E4.

Kindly suggest me which is the right way. Kindlky find the attached screen shot for your reference

If yes, please update me with the name of the .pkg file

Regards and Thanks,
Tej

Hi Tej,

As you can see from the 6.0(6)E4 release notes:

The minimum required version for upgrading to 6.0(6)E4 is 5.1(8) or later.

You can safely directly upgrade

Hi Nicolas,

Thanks for your reply, i have upgraded the same and its working fine now.

I have one more query Mr. Nicolas

We are using ASA-SSM-10 module, Engine version 7.0(5)E4
I am able to see only real time events but not able to view any past logs on IME (IPS Manager Express)? what are possible cause?

I am able to see the events in IDM.

Steps taken to resolve this issue:
I have deleted and re-added the devices
Restarted the services

Kindly help me to resolve this issue.

Regards

Tej

Hi Tej,

Can you verify that the times of the IPS and the IME devices are in sync?

If so, maybe you are hitting "CSCto71292 IME fails to store events following database crash" and you might want to try the workaround in the release notes of the bug: http://tools.cisco.com/Support/BugToolKit/search/getBugDetails.do?method=fetchBugDetails&bugId=CSCto71292

Nicolas
