I spoke to an engineer from cisco tech support and he told me that I have to uninstall LMS 2.2 first then Install the LMS 2.5. Is this really necessary? He said that upgrading LMS 2.5 from a existing LMS 2.2 created a lot of problem. Just wanted to find out if anybody had problems upgrading to LMS 2.5 Thank you in advance to your answers.

hi bauti..
uninstall LMS 2.2 ? No.. you can upgrade it directly.. but take precautions to back up your RME/IPM data... you need to first upgrade the ciscoworks common services and then all other modules like RME/DFM/IPM etc... I had done an upgrade before from an older version of LMS to LMS 2.2 and all i need to do is put the new CD and install it..
take a look at this URL and see how to backup the data for your LMS 2.2 to 2.5 migration:

all the best..

I spoke to a couple of Cisco Engineers and they said that LMS 2.5 is totally different than LMS 2.2. They also said that people who did an upgrade without uninstalling 2.2 had a lot of problems compared to those people who did a clean install. They also mentioned about a patch for the backup. Those who upgraded to 2.5 that restored their database from 2.2 without the patch found out that their back ups are no good. We put the upgrade on hold till May for the new IDU for 2.5 to come out. Some appliances are not yet supported with 2.5 which was really weird especially if your upgrading you would think it would be better and completed. They said that when they were developing 2.5 the new IDU's to support new devices for 2.2 weren't out yet therefore they didn't have it on 2.5. Why deploy 2.5 if weren't done? I guess they use us for Guinea pigs. :-)
