Will Pix Software 7.0 run on a 520

We want to test the new version of pix software when it comes out. We have an old unsupported 520 and want to use it as a test box, before we upgrade our 535s. Does anyone know if this box will support 7.0. This link says it will run on 515, 515e, 525, and 535, but no 520. http://www.cisco.com/en/US/customer/products/hw/vpndevc/ps2030/products_data_sheet0900aecd80225ae1.html

Dumb question I know, but its better to be safe then sorry.

I'm under NDA on the new PIX 7.0 code, but I think it's probably OK to share that it will *NOT* run on a 520.

Thank you, We kinda thought this would be the case, but wanted to feel the waters as to what was really possible. Thank you for your input. Guess we'll have to get a 515 for testing.

Make sure you check the memory requirements for running on a 515E. The restricted 515E only has 32 MB of memory, but I believe the 7.0 code requires 64 MB. (which is what the unrestricted 515E includes).

PIX OS 7.0 Platforms Supported

- Cisco PIX 515, 515E, 525 and 535 supported platforms

- Catalyst 6500 Firewall Services Module release targeted for Q2CY05 (not EC)

- Cisco PIX 501, 506, 506E support coming in a follow-on release*

-----------------------------------------------------

- Cisco PIX 520 not supported (PIX OS 6.3 last train for PIX 520)

-----------------------------------------------------

System Requirements

- PIX 515 and 515E will require a DRAM upgrade (amount TBA)

- PIX 525 and 535 will not require any upgrades

sincerely

Patrick
