Core Issue
The installation log shows a Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password message.
Resolution
To resolve this issue, perform these steps:
- Check the user that performs the installation. It should be an administrative user.
- Make sure the sa password for the Structured Query Language (SQL) database is not blank.
- Make sure the server is not a member of any domains. Domain membership causes the installation to fail. In this particular situation, the machine was still a domain member when the installation started.

Also, make sure that you are meeting all the pre-installation requirements for Cisco CallManager as mentioned in Installing Cisco CallManager Release 4.1(3).
For directory issues in other Cisco CallManager versions, refer to the Cisco CallManager: Troubleshooting Guides index, select the appropriate troubleshooting guide, and navigate to the Directory Issues chapter.
