When will Cisco CML - VIRL be released? And how much will it cost?

GNS3 Beta is available with 90+% of L2 functionality, as the actual CCIE exam is virtual your unlikely be tasked with configuring these technologies. The trouble I am having is I'm having is running the VM on ESXI then connecting to other VM's to integrate them into my topology i.e. IOSXRv CSR100v and this is more for proof of concept work than studying. Also there are prebuilt IOU VM's for INE topologies.

Hi; I've not worked with GNS3 new beta release yet. what do you mean by "GNS3 Beta is available with 90+% of L2 functionality"? you mean we can do most of the layer 2 tasks just with GNS3 software or other thing is required? can u make this more clear? tnx a lot.

GNS3 beta Integrates IOU (IOS on Unix) which Cisco use internally for labbing customer faults / proof of concept work. like previous versions you need to supply your own (IOU) images which come in L2 or L3 form (15.0+)
It costs $5 which i was more than happy to contribute due to the amount of studying / POC work it has helped me with. PS its also better on CPU.
Google GNS3 Beta IOU

Hi Anjobson,
I have purchased VIRL but there is no download link in the e-mail I have received. Where can I download it?
Regards,
Laurent

Hi Laurent
I did the same, though in the confirmation email, there is an explanation as to why we can't get our hands on this just yet:
While we migrate to our final software delivery infrastructure, there will be a one business day turnaround for Cisco to email you the image download directions. This email will be sent to the email address registered to your Cisco.com account. We thank you for your patience!

Hi anjobson,
I was at the checkout. Entered all the information and hit submit.
After few seconds it gave me the following erorr
Payment error: 125-Declined by Fraud Service
And nothing happened after that and I'm not sure why it gave me this error. But anyways, I checked my bank account and it shows that the transaction has been processed (called the bank and they confirmed this transaction is successfully approved) and credit card balance has gone down the amount equal to the VIRL cost.
I have the following Description on withdrawal alert sent by the Bank:
BankSA Authorisation from MasterCard Vertigo
Authorisation $176.68
Description TRML= 00010001 20141202
Medius Cisco San Jose CA US
Current Balance $0.50
Available Balance $2,822.82
Date 02 December 2014
Time 9:56 AM AEST
Can someone from Cisco please help me out with this.. This is really frustrating.
It is ridiculous that Cisco is selling VIRL online and not providing any official support for paying customers.. and just linking support to their Community support forum(which I have already asked for help). Cisco should at least provide some official support for at least for credit-card payment issues not expecting us to sort things out among Community for obvious reasons.
So the bottom line is that, I paid $176 (AUD) and I've got nothing and I don't have any official support from Cisco or a number to call to get this sorted. I have no idea who to contact so much appreciated if you can give me a contact for this.

Hi shamax_1983
Not sure what's happened there, I'm just going off experience. I do know I've had this kind of thing in the past. Usually something like the bank accept it and all, though the seller see's a mismatch between the billing address not matching the address on file for the credit card. Used to happen to me all the time when working away.
As for support, I know that the forums provide a really good way to get support on anything. I guess we can't get TAC on a personal product, but ultimately, it's built on OpenStack, which has tons of resources out there.

Thanks for your reply.
Someone else in the VIRL support community experienced the same issue and got some help from
https://cisco.mediuscorp.com/market/networkers/contacts.se.work
According to him cisco.mediuscorp have put in a new filtering system and getting 50% declines.
I am yet to contact them though (they are only opened during business hours unfortunately)
I understand your comment on the community support. But the community has no access to Cisco's credit-card systems to provide any help with payment related issues.
For all other matters my first preference is always community of course.

Just for other's benefit:
If you run in to this, contact ciscogroup@mediuscorp.com.

I ran into the same issue. My first two attempts came back declined and my third on a different card was successful. I called my credit card company this morning after reading this thread to find out the two declined transactions were charged to my card. I've sent an email to the email address provided. I will update once i've heard from someone.

Thanks for replying with the email address to contact in case of issues, I'm sure that someone else will find that very useful.
I just can't wait for that link to hit my inbox to download VIRL now!

My first impression of VIRL is that it is a BEAST of a VM with regards to CPU and RAM consumption. I installed it on my 16GB MacBook Pro first, and allocated 8GB to it. https://learningnetworkstore.cisco.com/virtual-internet-routing-lab-virl/cisco-personal-edition-pe-20-nodes-virl-20
However, its use was very limited as I was unable to load more than a few nodes. I then moved it to my ESXi server, which is definitely more appropriate for this software in its current state.
