Configuring Google Nest Wifi issues

Everything used to be working, but I changed my routers... previously, I had changed the DNS setting on the router to use OpenDNS, and the Google NEST mesh wifi was set to pick up DNS from the router.... now I had to had to change as the router died... I am using Rogers in Canada for my ISP and I now have the Ignite 2 router, which does not allow you to change DNS settings.... So, I changed the Google nest router to use Open DNS both for IPv4 and 6.

Setup Looks like this:

ISP->Rogers Ignite 2 router (using default DNS)->Google Nest Mesh Wifi (using Open DNS)->Clients

The issue is that I seem to be getting sporadic filtering going on.... I'm not sure if this is because the machine that has the OpenDNS Updater agent isn't running all the time?

I first set up OpenDNS on the nest wifi system and it didn't work until a reboot of each point and the router... Then it was working fine - for about a week... Then it stopped filtering...

I want to confirm something here - to keep filtering working, does the updater agent need to be run on a regular basis?

I did some more digging... It looks like the agent is updating properly as I see the IP address of my dynamic IP show up in the OpenDNS dashboard, however filtering is not happening.

I'm using Mac OS - In the OpenDNS updater, I click Status, and it says "Using OpenDNS?: No". The Icon in the top bar says "IP: Unavailable"

In the website, I see my IP address correctly defined.

To try and bypass any local DNS, I've set the DNS server manually in my laptop to point to the two OpenDNS IPv4 DNS servers.... I've set "Configure IPv6 to manually" with all options blank.

It's still not working. I've rebooted my router, mesh points and laptop several times. Still no filtering happening.

Any thoughts?

I have same issue I implemented OpenDNS and now the nest thermostat will not connect? Any progress?

Open the Google Home app .
Tap Add Set up device New device.
If prompted, choose a home.
Select the device you'd like to set up as a point Next.
Scan the QR code on the bottom of your device. 
Follow the in-app instructions to finish setup.

I have the exact same issue.  I have my Google Nest Wifi point configured to use Custom DNS of 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220.  However when I test on my computer by visiting internetbadguys.com, it shows I'm not using OpenDNS.  I have the updater running and also on my dashboard my home IP appears to be correct.  One thing that's peculiar is that on the OpenDNS updater it says "Looks like there's no internet connectivity", even though I am surf the internet on the same computer.
