I have tried Web Content Filtering in OpenDNS and it's still not blocked on my home network.

  1. Are you using OpenDNS?  http://welcome.opendns.com/
  2. If so, is your IP address correctly registered at https://dashboard.opendns.com/settings/ ?
  3. Did you flush your caches after the settings change?

Yes, I am using OpenDNS

Yes, my IP address is correctly registered.

And do I have to flush the caches on all the computers or just the one hard connected to the router?

You have to flush the caches on all computers where you have visited League of Legends before, else you will still be served out of your caches, not necessarily with actual DNS data or content, until the caches expire.

If you're still having problems, copy & paste the complete plain text output of the following commands to here:

nslookup -type=txt debug.opendns.com.
nslookup whoami.akamai.net.
nslookup leagueoflegends.com.
nslookup na.leagueoflegends.com.
nslookup play.na.leagueoflegends.com.

Plain text looks differently... :(

Point 1 was incorrectly answered.  You are not using OpenDNS, but clearly Google Public DNS (8.8.8.8)!  Google does not care about your OpenDNS dashboard settings.  Why did you say that you're using OpenDNS?

Correct this, and try again.

OK, then clearly I don't know how to configure OpenDNS in my router settings. I followed the instructions and put the two number combos into the router page

That looks fine for the router. What is with your computer? It seems you configured Google Public DNS manually on it.

You must configure the computer's IPv4 properties to

  • either obtain the DNS server addresses automatically via DHCP from the router (preferred),
  • or you manually configure your router's IP address (probably something like 192.168.x.x) as the only DNS server address in case your network settings are static,
  • or you configure the OpenDNS resolver addresses.  This is suboptimal, because external DNS server addresses impact or break local name resolution.

I have no idea how to even do that so.....

I'd be happy to do option #1 if there are instructions somewhere?

Brilliant, this looks fine now!  (Although it is still not plain text.)

One thing I should mention too, you blacklisted

  • leagueoflegends.com
    na.leagueoflegends.com
    play.na.leagueoflegends.com

Only the first entry is relevant, the other two are obsolete.  The entry leagueoflegends.com already covers this and all its subdomains too.
