Hello,
I'm new to OpenDNS, but so far it seems to work great for my needs. I read around for information, but I'm still a bit confused about one thing.
I want to use OpenDNS with the same settings applied on two different locations, with different ISPs at the same time. On one of the places there is a desktop PC behind a router and when I'm there my laptop is also on that network. I have installed the IP auto updater app on both computers and it runs silently at the background as a scheduled task.
If the routers on both locations are set to use OpenDNS, is it necessary to set two networks on the OpenDNS settings, given that I want the same settings to be applied on both locations?
What I have tried is to bring my laptop on a friend's location and set his router for OpenDNS. In this situation the Auto IP Updater could update the IP automatically and although it took a bit more time then expected (about 10-15 min) for the OpenDNS settings to apply, it worked.
But what will happen if I have two computers on two locations with Auto IP Updater running on each? Do I have to setup 2 networks on the OpenDNS settings? If that is the case, maybe that means that I will have to change networks on the Auto IP Updater on my laptop when I travel from one of the locations to the other and that's not good.
Thanks.

If you have two locations (= two networks), then you need an account with two networks or two accounts with one network each, because an OpenDNS dashboard network is identified by its unique current public IP address. The problematic bit is that you installed an updater on a roaming device, your laptop. The updater must always reside in the network which it should keep updated, else you register wrong IP addresses with your networks (for example your friend's IP address or a public WiFi's IP address), and your settings are no longer in effect for the other devices in the home networks.
As you therefore generally cannot update the IP address information from remote, it does not make sense to run an updater on a roaming device, at least not when away from its home network, defined by the network label configured in the updater.
If you only have the option to run an updater on this laptop, then use Marc's Updater where you have more options to control updates depending on WLAN SSID and/or the internal gateway IP address, if these are different in your networks.
