OpenDNS for Cellular Network

My Router/Wi-Fi is protected by OpenDNS FamilyShield. It's awesome. How can I restrict my iPhone 5 from similar websites when it is not connected to my WiFi (say I am outside my home and relying only on my provider Cellular data). Is there a solution for that. I talked to Verizon yesterday and they said for iPhone they don't have a FamilyShield like content filtering - that sucks

Thanks

SR

It seems you're looking for OpenDNS Prosumer.

I guess I was looking for 1 max of 2 for home use. I was actually looking to Umbrella yesterday and thought it was for a enterprise

"I guess I was looking for 1 max of 2 for home use."

No, you weren't.  You said: "when it is not connected to my WiFi (say I am outside my home and relying only on my provider Cellular data)".  This is not for home use.  Only if your iPhone is connected to your WiFi, then it is home use.

So again, if you want to have protection on your iPhone everywhere, you'll want to go for OpenDNS Prosumer.  This is a trimmed down version of Enterprise for non-enterprise (Pro) users, with a rational price of $20/year per user, up to 5 users.  So, in your case it will cost you $20 or $40 annually, for using up to three devices each user.  Isn't that fair?

It is fair. So when you say " three devices each user" How does that work. So I have a MacBook Pro, iPhone (Verizon) iPad(verizon). So This is what I do

1. MacBook - Connect at local Starbucks or Client Office network

2. iPhone - always on - surfing or using apps using Verizon Cellular Network

3. iPAD - ditto #2

Can you explain how will it work and how much will I have to pay per year

Thanks

For Prosumer it is said:

Umbrella Prosumer uses OpenDNS’s lightweight agents to protect up to three devices (per licensed user) running Windows, Mac OSX or iOS anywhere, anytime. Umbrella Prosumer provides all the same benefits and threat protection as Umbrella Professional, except for the ability to provision network-wide coverage.

That means: After you purchased Prosumer, you install the related software (lightweight agents) only on roaming devices (Windows, Mac OSX or iOS) to take OpenDNS effect on.  The stationary devices use your existing free OpenDNS Home anyway.

And regarding the price, if you're the only one user, it costs you $20 per year, as said.

Please note, I'm not OpenDNS staff, but a user, so all statements are without any warranty!  I took the information from their website.

Since you would be one user, and have three devices, this would mean you'd need a 1 user license for Prosumer to protect your three devices (iPhone, iPad, and MacBook) from off your home network.

well after reading this thread, I bought the Prosumer Umbrella and planned to use it for my iPhone.

I then downloaded the umbrella app but it won't work on my iPhone running iOS 10. It says "Login was successful but your account is not enabled for Umbrella Mobility."

And I don't see any info in my account on how to enable Umbrella for mobility/iPhone.

I bought this strictly for my iPhone and if it doesn't work, I want a refund.

Does this help? https://support.umbrella.com/hc/en-us/articles/230905328

If not, you open a support ticket.  Staff will make it work with your account.  The community here cannot help, because we other users cannot access your account, of course.

My question is this-- I bought Umbrella Prosumer with the main purpose for using it on my iPhone.

But how do I enable it on the iPhone?

When I try to sign in on my Umbrella App on my iPhone, it says"Login was successful but your account is not enabled for Umbrella Mobility."

How can I get Umbrella App to run on my iPhone?

I say it again: you open a support ticket.  https://support.umbrella.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

You cannot get help for Prosumer and the Umbrella dashboard from OpenDNS Home users.  I would think you did something wrong, or something is wrong with your subscription or account, but this is guessing.  This can be checked by OpenDNS support staff only.
