OpenDNS is not blocking uTorrent and P2P websites.

I have added P2P/File Sharing to the block list. I can still download torrents from piratebay and kickasstorrents.

How do I fix this?

"OpenDNS is not blocking uTorrent and P2P websites."

These services almost do not use DNS, so OpenDNS (as DNS service) cannot block them.  Therefore there's nothing to fix.

Btw, as far as these are websites associated with a domain name like thepiratebay.se and kickasstorrents.eu, then these can be blocked with OpenDNS by category or domain name, of course.

Else you get your problem solved by starting an internet search how other people blocked uTorrent and P2P traffic.

Hi illquo,

Sorry to hear you are having issues. OpenDNS is a recursive DNS server, so we can take the domain that's being requested, and either return the real IP address of the domain, or the IP address of the block site to filter content. By adding P2P/File Sharing to the block list, you will not be able to access domains like dropbox.com, but a user already has access to the domains, OpenDNS will not be able to prevent downloading torrents or other files.

If you have any questions, feel free to submit a support ticket to us.

Cheers!
