OpenDNS Stats Not Working (Domains)

Hi,

Over the past few weeks I started to notice FetchStats was returning a significantly smaller file / output randomly. Some "fetches" were OK, other not. Repeating the same date for fetching would usually work eventually.

In the past few days the fetch is failing to complete and, when I visit the OpenDNS dashboard and attempt to view the DOMAINS for a given date it displays a page or two or sometimes no pages before displaying this message:

"Oops! We don't have any data for you. Try searching a larger range or go surf the net to generate some data."

I know there is data because an earlier search will have returned a few pages before it fails completely.

I've raised a ticket but just wondering if anyone is experiencing / has experienced the same? Better still - knows how to resolve the issue?

Thanks

There are at least two things which must happen to collect stats. First, you must constantly use OpenDNS. Second, your IP address must always be registered at your dashboard.

Hi. Thanks for your reply. Both are true and the stats are there - sometimes they display and subsequently refuse to display.

My hunch is that there is a limit on the server stopping reports too frequently. It's a problem I've come up against in the past.

If I page through the stats really sloooooooooooowly it tends to be more reliable.

FetchStats, meanwhile, seems to be just too fast between pages.

Then I am afraid you must wait for staff to respond.

Ah wait, see if a delay can help.

Thanks again. I tried adding a wait - even went up to 30000... Unfortunately it still failed... Thanks in any case - a good idea to try.

Good to know - thank you! Saves me keep searching locally for the issue.

Same issues here. Seem to occur most often trying to access page 2 of the Data. Page one will work fine.

Its hit and miss.

I had to put a large delay in the script. It now takes ages for the script to complete running for a single days worth of data. I've also noticed instances where the data per day is inconsistent - run it this afternoon for yesterday then, if I wait a few days and run the same day again, I get different results.

Surprisingly bad user experience for something you'd expect to be quite straightforward.

Interestingly, I found that if I just refresh the browser, it loads the new data. Not ideal, but it works.

Yes. Found the same. I'm using a script to automate the extract the data to a file.

I've also been having the same problem, usually starting on page 2 but sometimes page 1 won't load.  If I repeat the process several times, information may show for that page eventually but when i continue to the next page, it has the same problem which then loops me back to the first page.

Yes. Just noticed today that it is playing up, again... I've built a 2.5 minute delay into the pages changes for the script I use which means it does not breach the limit imposed by OpenDNS. I have also requested that OpenDNS review the limit as it makes a complete nonsense of a paginated interface when you can't flip between pages without having an inordinate amount of time!

NB: Despite my 2.5 minute delay between page changes OpenDNS does not seem to be playing ball today - it does this from time to time. It's not very reliable...

I have same issue. For at least a week or two. Now I can’t get any stats. Even old stats won’t post but I know they are there because I could see them a few days ago. I hope someone responds to my ticket. Glad to know I’m not alone. Grrr

Just opened a new ticket. Today it is not working at all. In the past I'd get variances in the number of results returned and would simply run the script over a series of days until I got a return count of records that looked about right based on historical record counts. It does seem to have a habit of slowly getting unreliable then failing completely.
